Applicants for international protection - asylum, subsidiary protection
We assist applicants for international protection in asylum proceedings, including judicial proceedings, regardless of your country of origin. You can make an appointment for a consultation, either if you are just about to make an asylum claim or if your case is already pending or you have received a negative response. You can also contact us if you have already been granted international protection. We can help in all OPU offices as well as Reception Centers and Residential Centers. We also help with other legal issues, including family reunification, and can connect you with our social workers and psychologists.
Helping people from Ukraine - temporary protection
If you had to leave Ukraine due to the war conflict and need legal assistance, you can contact our legal team in all OPU offices. We can help with applications for temporary protection in all instances, questions about family reunification, other legal issues, and we can also connect you with our social workers and psychologists.
Migrants with different types of residence
The team of laywers help migrants with different types of residency, as well as their relatives. These include foreigners with Czech citizenship, permanent residence, temporary residence, long-term residence and foreigners with short-term visas. Above all, we help people from non-EU countries and, in certain cases, people from EU countries in need.
Examples of situations where you can contact our lawyers include applying for a residence permit, extending a residence permit, family reunification with a foreigner, family reunification with a Czech or EU citizen, or applying for Czech citizenship. In addition to legal assistance, we can also connect you with our social workers and psychologists.

Migrant children and unaccompanied minors
We help migrant children and young people, and we pay special attention to unaccompanied minors. Our advice in this area is provided by specialist lawyers who have worked with unaccompanied children and minors for many years. You can contact us regardless of your residence status and your country of origin. We can help you with residence status consultation, with applying for international protection in all instances including court, with contacting a guardian, and with other legal issues. We can help you contact your family and help you reunite with your relatives in another EU country. We can also put you in touch with our social workers who can help with things like finding schools and further study, and we can put you in touch with specialist psychologists.
Victims of torture, trafficking and exploitation
We pay special attention to victims of torture, trafficking and exploitation. If you are a victim of such acts, you can contact us. If you are deprived of your personal liberty, for example in a detention facility for foreigners or a prison, please contact the social workers of the facility and seek legal assistance from Refugee Aid. You can also contact us by phone, email or post.
LGBTQI* migrants and refugees
We help LGBTQI* migrants and LGBTQI* applicants for international protection. You can contact us regardless of your residence status and your country of origin. We can help you with consultation on your residency status, or with your application for international protection in all instances, including in court, with other legal issues, and we can also connect you with our social workers and psychologists.
Stateless migrants
Have you never had a valid travel document?
The country where you were born no longer exists?
The country where you were born has never issued you or your family the necessary documents?
Your embassy is not providing assistance or communicating with you?
Are you unable to travel?
You cannot get documents for your children?
You cannot reunite your family members because they do not have documents?
This is a sign that you may be stateless. Being stateless means that you do not have citizenship of any country. If you are stateless, you can make an appointment for a legal consultation at all OPU offices. We can help with applying for stateless status in all instances, with other legal issues, and we can also connect you with our social workers and psychologists.
Migrants without a residence permit or deprived of their personal liberty
If you are without a residence permit and/or deprived of your personal liberty, whether in a detention centre or in prison, you can contact us. In an immigration detention centre or prison, you can contact the social workers at the centre and request legal assistance from us. You can also contact us by phone, email or mail.
